I was there with a group of friends for dinner and tried the three course meal.
Worth every euro! The food was just amazing and the portion size was perfect.
However what made the dinner even more amazing was the kind staff. The staff members were well trained, kind, caring, friendly, and understanding. My friends and I enjoyed the dinner and the atmosphere of the place. We hope to come back soon!
My experience at Hotel Van der Werff's restaurant was exceptional! The service was first class, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The cod and beefsteak were cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour. The wine selection complemented the meal perfectly. The stunning interior added to the overall charm, creating a delightful and cosy atmosphere. Highly recommended for great service, fantastic atmosphere and delicious food!
I can’t say anything about the experience of the rooms but we had dinner here and it was a mixed bag to say the least. The vibes of the place are very nostalgic and charming but in some ways the age of the hotel is also showing less gracefully. The food felt very cafetaria like, fast turnover, small menu, and frankly high prices for what you get. I can say that the onion soup with Gruyère was genuinely lovely but unfortunately this could not be said for our main course gnocchi, which was a mess in pretty much every way, bad texture, soggy overdone vegetables and a general lack of coherent vision. The extra sides that were brought out also felt dated in the least charming of ways, the staple Dutch side fries were mediocre, the salad was bland and the carrots were a type of mushy I haven’t encountered anywhere outside of canned food. The staff was friendly but also not super attentive as we often went 30 minutes without being checked on even when our glasses were empty.
We came by to have a coffee at their cafe, when we visited the island. It was a pretty fair price and the atmosphere was great.
The staff was also quite friendly, so we can definitely recommend further :)
Thank you very much and keep up the good work!
This lovely establishment, going strong since 1726, is charming without being over commercial or tacky. Lots of old world decor & thoughtful staff, coupled with great food & plenty of little extra touches make this place a favorite in the middle of paradise. I can highly recommend one of their corner rooms with spacious interior, comfortable beds, idyllic views, and even a deep double ended bath. There is ample parking for bicycles & a pick & drop service from the ferry port for guests, and the venue is central to the local shops. Hope to be back soon
Nice place, but the chicken is raw…
Be careful what you eat here!
Legendary place, with a nostalgic atmosphere and, very rare these days, real waiters (who can be grumpy, but this seems to be part of the show and the coleur locale). But however legendary it may be, I think it has become overrated by now. Food is predictable and recently it has been undercooked. Waiting times were too long, and charming grumpiness in a few cases turned out to be a thin veil only, barely hiding some real nastiness. They should get their act together or otherwise even being legendary will not be enough in the longer run.
I along with 60 other people attended CAIA course at schiermonnikoog and found this place really amazing to stay.
The food and service is really satisfying. One outstanding thing was the service offered by Jesse. He was courteous, attentive and always had a smile on his face.
Definitely recommend this place.
